Need of Assistance (SINA)Audit Phase Series of EventsDate | Event | | 1) Meet with the building and/or district team. (approximately 1 hour) ·
Share the purpose of the SINA/DINA support process and phases, Audit Phase in particular, the audit process, and the product. The product is a profile of the building/district with identified potential areas of concern. · Share
the audit domains, questions, and tools including the Practices Inventory. · Determine the interest in working through the SINA/DINA support process. · Arrange next
meetings and determine which documents on the checklist the building/district will collect and which the Audit Team will collect. ·
Arrange when teachers will complete the Practices Inventory (optional). ·

This is
the first step in constructing the building/district profile. ·
As the team reviews documents, they may wish to write questions for the interviews with the administration and/or teachers. ·
If the building/district has completed the Practices Inventory, be sure to review those data and include them in the profile and use them to generate more interview questions.
· Complete the review of the documents prior to the interviews with administrators and teachers (See Events 3 and 4). · Tools:
Audit Profile, Documents for Review, Practices Inventory, Audit Narrative, Event 2 Activity Packet | | 3) Interview the building/district administration (approximately
1 - 2 hours) ·
The Support Team will interview the building/district administrators in
order to clarify the initial findings in the profile and answer additional questions raised during the review of documents
and data from the Practices Inventory. (See Event 2). · Tools:
Audit Narrative, Series of Events, Review of Series of Events, Sample Reflective Conversation Questions Administrators and Teachers, Audit Profile | | 4) Interview the teachers (typically 45 minutes to 1 hour) · The Support Team will interview teachers (group of 6 to 8) from the building/district in order to further clarify the
profile and answer additional questions raised during the review of documents and data from the Practices Inventory. · The group of teachers to be interviewed can be determined in several ways. Refer to the Audit Narrative for guidance in this area. · Tools: Audit Narrative, Series of Events, Review of Series of Events, Sample Reflective Conversation Questions for Administrators and Teachers, Audit Profile | | 5) Create a final version of the building/district profile. · The SINA/DINA Audit Team will draft a final version of the profile that incorporates the findings from the documents,
Practices Inventory, and interviews. ·
All audit questions need to be addressed either with data or by noting “No
evidence at this time.” ·
For each Area for Further Study, there should be a question
that describes the concern and leads to further investigation by the Diagnosis Team. · The
Audit Team should create a summary, highlighting strengths and Areas for Further Study. The Areas
for Further Study should be placed in a prioritized list. See the Audit Narrative for guidance on prioritization. ·

Meet with building/district administrators and/or leadership team (approximately 1 - 2 hours) · Invite Diagnosis Team members ·
The Audit Team will share the summary of the findings, the final profile,
the data report from the Practices Inventory, and the prioritized list of Areas for Further Study with the building/district
administrators, and/or the building/district leadership team and possibly the entire building staff. Presentations may
also e made to the district's board of education. ·
This discussion will lead directly into the next phase, Diagnosis.
